For almost 30 years, I have been involved in the work of gospel ministry. I began in ministry working on staff at South Mountain Baptist Camp. I have also worked bi-vocationally with youth and children at Sandy Mush, Mt. Vernon, and Waco Baptist. Currently, I am an Elder/Pastor at FBC Newton. Being in this position has given me valuable experience in caring for the local church. In addition, since 2020, I have been producing a Christian podcast. This podcast ministry developed into a network with other pastors and podcastors. Through the podcast network ministry, we will soon be hosting our third annual conference.
I have been licensed and ordained by the South Mountain Baptist Association. I also hold a bachelor's degree from Gardner-Webb University in Religious Studies. In every church that I have worked at, I have been active in preaching as needed. I am also one of the speakers at our annual conference, as well as organizer.
I am theologically conservative. I believe the Word of God is infallible, inerrant, and sufficient. I believe that God is sovereign and relates to mankind through the doctrines of covenants and grace. I believe the best way to communicate God’s Word is through expository preaching. I believe in biblical church membership, discipline, evangelism, and worship.
As a philosophy of ministry, I believe God has ordained men to hold two offices in the church: that of elder and deacon. The Bible teaches that a local church should have a plurality of elders and deacons. The elders are commanded to feed, equip, care, and protect the flock of God among them. The deacons are to lead in serving to meet the physical needs of the church building and members. I believe God’s desire for discipleship primarily happens in corporate preaching and in the home. I believe corporate worship should seek to be Bible saturated, God glorifying, Christ exalting, Spirit led, theologically accurate, proclaiming the gospel done decently and in order.
My wife, Kelly, is a third grade teacher. She recently won teacher of the year at her school. We have two grown children. Currently, we have two foster children, a four year old boy and a six month old girl.
